Now that spring is almost here, it’s time to have a good clean out.
Start by recycling old or broken toys and books and clothes that no longer fit. Invest in an organised storage system and if your child is of school age, an ergonomic desk and chair for homework and quiet study.
To clean the room naturally without chemicals, you can keep windows sparkling by rubbing the glass with a sheet of crumpled newspaper and equal parts white vinegar and water with a drop or two of liquid soap.
To remove furniture marks or crayon from matt, water-based emulsion paint on the walls, use a baking soda and water solution (four tablespoons of each) on the affected area, leave for 10 minutes then wipe with a damp cloth.
Baking soda can also be used to remove spot marks on carpet. Simply sprinkle on, leave to absorb the stain then vacuum up.
Throw the windows open to let plenty of fresh air in then for the perfect finish, pick fresh flowers from the garden and display in colourful vases or empty jam jars and glass bottles.
